The Mark I M3 incorporates a part sourced from an authentic, legendary 1960s Austin Mini. Long before the Ford Mustang and then the Porsche 911 watches, the REC Mark I collection pays homage to the first Austin Mini. Protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the dial of the Mark i M1, M2, and M3 is crafted from a piece of a Mini’s bodywork, with its serial number or VIN (“Vehicle Identification Number”) engraved on the case back: 1121346B. This unique element features a lacquered finish to ensure it does not deteriorate over time. Handcrafted, its design is inspired by the elliptical shape of the Mini’s dashboard. It frames the two sub-dials displaying the chronograph minutes and the 24-hour indicator. The hour and minute hands are luminescent for visibility even in the dark. Finally, the date is discreetly positioned at 6 o’clock. The watch comes with its two original rec-branded straps. The Mark i’s 44.3 mm case is crafted from 316L stainless steel. Water-resistant to 50 meters, its 11.5 mm thickness allows it to slip discreetly under a sleeve. The beautifully aged leather straps ensure a comfortable fit. They feature a quick-change system that requires no tools. All Mark i models are powered by the same movement, a TMI VK64 quartz caliber. Two original straps in black leather and orange nylon, plus a complimentary NATO strap. Original box and documents: a “Story Card” detailing the history of the Mini used in its creation, as well as a certificate of authenticity and warranty card.
