Lindbergh, the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927, wanted a watch that would help pilots accurately determine their longitude during flight. The result was the Hour Angle Watch, known today as the Longines Lindbergh, a watch that allowed pilots to easily calculate the hour angle relative to the Greenwich Meridian, thanks to a rotating scale on the dial and a rotating ring on the bezel.
