hanhart Flyback Chronograph Cal. 42, hand-wound watch with a 40 mm case (measured without the crown). Reference Number: Cal. 42 Year: ca. 1952 A rare Hanhart featuring the Caliber 42 with a flyback function. The Caliber 42 (2 pushers) was also used in various Bundeswehr Hanhart models, just like its sister caliber, the Caliber 40 (1 pusher). Here, however, it is not housed in a Bundeswehr case but rather presented in a luxurious and elegant design. Despite being around 75 years old, the watch currently measures about 40 mm in diameter, which allows it to look its best on the wrist. In our test on the timekeeping balance, it ran very well at approximately +8 seconds per day with an amplitude of about 246 degrees. Please do not expect chronograph-level accuracy, however; a movement this old may run slightly slower or faster depending on how tightly it is wound, so in everyday use, a deviation of 10 to 20 seconds per day is to be expected. All functions are in perfect working order; the chronograph resets cleanly, and the reset mechanism—including the flyback function—works perfectly. It’s in lovely, age-appropriate condition. The dial and hands are original, unrestored, and thus feature a beautiful patina. At first glance, the gold plating on the case is well-preserved and shows only slight age-related wear. The watch is fitted with a neutral leather strap and a gold-plated neutral buckle. It will be shipped in a neutral box. All watches are held in our inventory; therefore, we ask that you contact us in advance if you wish to view them. You will, of course, receive a proper invoice for your watch.
