Minerva "dh" (Deutsches Heer) watch – World War II period This watch is a historic collector's item, one of a number of service watches contracted from Swiss manufacturers (including Minerva) on behalf of the German army (Deutsches Heer). It is recognizable by the "dh" engraving on the case back. Marking: "dh" (for Deutsches Heer or German Army), confirming its status as a World War II military service watch. Case: The case is made of chrome-plated metal, not steel, which was common practice for military watches of this period in order to reduce costs and steel production for the war effort. The diameter is 34 mm. Dial: Matte black "military" style dial with patinated Arabic numerals and a small seconds display at 6 o'clock. Movement: This watch is equipped with a manual-winding mechanical movement, often referred to as Lavina, or more precisely a Lavina movement used by Minerva for these contracts. The Minerva dh watch is a choice piece for collectors of military watches. It bears witness to wartime watchmaking and the history of the Axis watch supply contract. The chrome case is typical of the authenticity of these historical pieces. The wear on the chrome is barely noticeable, indicating an exceptional state of preservation, close to its original condition. One-year warranty by our establishment, possibility to come and see it, try it on, or pick it up at our store in Paris 9.
