Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moon Tattoo watch in 18K rose gold Moonphase Limited Edition of 59 pieces worldwide, ref. OKT.II.MGTT (OKT.11.MGTT), from 2015, full set with Box and Papers. “In-house complication, painstaking engraving, precious case materials…these are just the technicalities. We wanted a really cool watch. Oktopus Moon Tattoo is out of the ordinary,” Morten Linde. With a 44mm case in 18kt rose gold, intricately decorated with 80 nanometres tattoo engravings designed by Danish tattoo artist Henning Jensen of Royal Tattoo; scratch-proof sapphire crystal; black ceramic bezel and screw-on case-back; titanium dented crown with a figure of an octopus. Black multiple-layered skeleton Arabic dial with moonphases and luminous hands. Powered by an automatic self-winding movement, Frederic Piguet cal. 1150 (the base caliber is an ETA 2892, modified so that the moonphase complication could be placed on top), with 29 jewels and a power reserve of 42 hours. Water resistant to 300 meters. This watch is fitted with a Linde Werdelin black natural rubber strap with a DLC titanium buckle. Detail is one of the most important deciding factors between what is a good watch and what is a great watch. Of course the Oktopus Moon Tattoo has a lot of details because of the engraved case, but there is more. Instead of simply showing the phase of the moon, Linde Werdelin lets the moon quite literally age. From a young boy, the moon matures into an old man. Details like this are what really matters, as they give an extra dimension to the overall design of the watch.
