TAOS continues the Fabric collection launched in spring 2025 with two unique pieces imagined for evening wear, and ‘Tuxedo’ is the masculine half of that dialogue. Inspired by the most understated and universal of evening garments, the watch translates the satin weave of a tuxedo fabric into the language of the dial, where every line and motif evokes the crossing threads of a loom. The graphic structure is deliberately contemporary, giving the piece the look of a couture textile woven with light. The construction is as exacting as the effect suggests. A white gold base first receives a coat of black enamel, after which fragments of silver leaf, formed into filaments of extreme fineness, are laid down in four successive strata with up to five firings of translucent Grand Feu enamel. Each passage through the kiln demands absolute precision, since the slightest shift of a fragment would jeopardize the entire composition. The finished surface reveals in turn the depth of midnight blue, the intensity of black, and the glint of silver threads, a woven texture that seems to shift as the light moves across it. At the heart of the watch beats the Entrelacs caliber, decorated with a motif inspired by braiding and quilting, its engraved ribbons playing with the light. Each movement requires over 150 hours of hand engraving, carrying the poetry of the dial into the mechanism itself. Developed under Geneva watchmaker and CEO Olivier Gaud and executed by the forty artisans of Ateliers Olivier Vaucher, ‘Tuxedo’ represents more than 1,000 hours of work.
