Spaceview Model: USA 3031 1970 18K HGE Television case running Bulova Accutron Engraving on back reads "Love always, Marcy" presumably from the local jeweler whose box this watch was in. light scratches on crystal, not noticeable or tangible. A ding and some scratching on the bracelet but overall great condition. more photos are available if requested. not quartz, its progenitor: the 214 tuning fork movement! running at 360Hz comes to 1296000 beats per hour. a true sweeping hand watch if there ever was one. Has a new modern battery of proper voltage with the necessary spacer. The age is approximate because the case code reads for 1970 but the manual it came with has it as a 1972 model. Likely 1970 case with 1972 movement as these were often custom or ad hoc from jewelers at the time as i understand it. this was picked up by the previous owner,at a closed estate auction a couple of ago. They sourced the correct voltage replacement cell, installed it, and it’s been running flawlessly ever since with its ultra quiet little hum of the tuning fork. the case is 18k HGE yellow gold. the bracelet is 10k GF Yellow gold top on stainless backing. the crystal is acrylic and clear. It has the Bulova logo atop the Accutron namesake lower left field, one of the designating features of this model. All parts are original as far as I'm aware and research has shown. It appears the jeweler who sold this watch replaced the leather strap with a 10k GF yellow gold Kriesler Steelux deployant bracelet before sale to the customer, as was common practice. This is a rare variant from the American branch of the Spaceview lineage known as a USA 3031. The watch will be shipped in a protective travel watch case along with a luxury gift box. I'll just say: by and large this is one of my favorite watches of all time. Spaceview's have a deep and interesting history from general Omar Bradley, the moon landings and the Apollo astronauts to cold war statecraft and the quartz revolution itself. this is just a sweet watch all around.
