Angelus returns to its roots with the Chronographe Télémètre, the latest release in its La Fabrique collection, available in a very limited edition: two sets of 25 pieces in steel and just 15 in 18-carat yellow gold. Sized at a modest 37 mm, this mono-pusher chronograph captures Angelus’ early 20th-century DNA, blending sharp vintage cues with contemporary finishing. The dial design—grained at the centre with a satin flange and polished accents—carries an old-world charm, while the sculpted lugs and nuanced case lines give it a bold, unmistakably Angelus silhouette. Founded in 1891 in Le Locle, Angelus built its legacy on chronographs and complications, a spirit that lives on in the Chronographe Télémètre. Its namesake scale, the telemeter, harks back to an era when watches measured not only time but also distance—calculating how far off an event was based on the interval between seeing and hearing it. The addition of small seconds at 9 and a 30-minute totaliser at 3 o’clock underscores its utility, all wrapped in a nostalgic package. Powering it all is the in-house A5000 calibre—a hand-wound, mono-pusher movement boasting column wheel architecture and a horizontal clutch. With its dual-tone finish, slim 4.20 mm height, and 42-hour reserve, it is as much a technical flex as it is a homage to Angelus’ golden age. The level of finishing, from palladium highlights to sharp bevelling, elevates this calibre well beyond mere function. Whether in warm steel hues or paired with a white dial in yellow gold, the Chronographe Télémètre distills 130 years of chronograph mastery into a compact, elegant form.
